A Harare polygamist was brought to court by his fifth wife seeking US$80 monthly maintenance fee for the upkeep of their two children.
Ida Chuma appeared at the Harare civil court where she also accused her former husband Patrick Tumbare of evicting her from their matrimonial home. The desperate housewife justified her offer on grounds that she was homeless and is struggling to make ends meet.
"I am now homeless with my kids and right now his children have no clothes to wear. He evicted me from our matrimonial home at night and I could not pack their clothes," she said.
Ida confessed that she was chucked out of their matrimonial house after she picked up a fight with the husband's second wife. In response, Patrick said he cannot afford to pay that amount since he has other FOUR WIVES and children who need his attention.
"Ida is my fifth wife and US$80 is too much for two children. I am also taking care of four wives and their children. I can only afford US$20 for her," said the PROUD husband of five women.
Magistrate Tatenda Manhanzva ordered Patrick to pay US$30 per month with effect from May 31.
