WRONG turn!

A ZVISHAVANE man got into trouble after hiring a juvenile (15) for the whole night thinking she was a thigh vendor while she was just an innocent girl who had escaped from home fearing a hiding.

The taxi driver Phineas Chinorira (36) was arrested the following day after a memorable night.

He reportedly met the girl in town and she told him that she wanted to go to her rural home in Mutare but did not have bus fare.

He then promised to give her money and buy her a cellphone if they spent the night together.

The deal was sealed and they went to a secluded place for the night.

Unfortunately the following day when he accompanied the girl to the bus terminus, they met the girl's grandfather who was busy looking for her.

Without wasting time, the grandfather apprehended Chinorira and took him to the police station where he was arrested on charges of having sexual intercourse with a minor.

Appearing before Zvishavane magistrate Shepherd Mjanja, the man pleaded not guilty citing that he hired the services of the girl after concluding that she was a prostitute.

He revealed that he found the girl standing by the corner wearing a mini jean skirt and he negotiated for sexual services.

The court also heard that the girl spent the night with the man after she had run away from home fearing an assault by her aunt.

Chinorira was remanded out of custody to 13 February.
