'Children are not mine'

A Harare man has disowned his two children claiming that his former wife had a boyfriend who regularly accuses him of being weak.

Hilda Karadzi yesterday appeared at the Harare Civil Court appealing for a protection order against her ex-husband Tinashe Raini who insults and assaults her regularly.

"He insults me, comes to my workplace to harass me saying I am a prostitute and that he is not the father of our two children," said Hilda.

Hilda said her ex-husband threatened to kill her if she ever applied for maintenance because he thinks the children were not his.

"He said he would kill me if I apply for maintenance because he started denying his children after I got into a relationship with someone else," she said.

Tinashe said his ex-wife cheated on him while they were still together and this made him suspicious about their children.

"She cheated on me long back before our first child and I caught her again with the same person after our second child, this gave me doubts about our children," he said.

Tinashe said his ex-wife's boyfriend accuses him of being weak and that he always claims that he is taking care of children that are not his.

"The boyfriend claims that the children are not mine and this angers me all the time," he said.

Presiding magistrate Tafadzwa Miti granted Hilda with a protection order against Tinashe and urged her to apply for maintenance as well.
