Chamisa saddened by Battlefields mine tragedy

MDC leader Nelson Chamisa has told of his deep concern as a rescue and recovery effort to free about 50 miners trapped in flooded tunnels underground in Battlefields near Kadoma continues.

Rescue team are pumping out water from the shafts, but it is unlikely any bodies will be pulled out today.

Extremely concerned ...the situation regarding casualties in the Battlefields mine disaster near Kadoma which could rise from the initial 23 reported yesterday is very disturbing. Our prayers are with all the affected and their families.
