A 50-year-old woman from Mutare's sprawling high-density suburb of Sakubva who had spent the night having sex with her boyfriend at his house died from breathing complications.

The incident which happened in the wee hours of Tuesday at House No. 26B Chisamba Singles, shocked residents of the populous suburb. It was the talk of the suburb with many giving conflicting reports on the incident. Those conversant with the case said the two live-in lovebirds enjoyed time together and usually spent most nights together. They said the late Caroline Gatura would sneak into Jefter Shoko's (52) house daily at night and spend the night with him and the go back to her house in Old Location before dawn.

The acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Enock Chishiri, confirmed the incident and said Gatura was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Mutare Provincial Hospital where she was rushed after suffering from breathing complications. It is alleged that her boyfriend tried to save her, but failed.

"The two were having a 'nice time' at Jefter's house when Gatura developed breathing complications and she collapsed. Jefter hired a vehicle to ferry her girlfriend to hospital, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival," he said.

Asst Insp Chishiri said the police were waiting for a post mortem to ascertain the actual cause of her death. He said people should officially stay together instead of co-habiting because it was associated with many dangers. officers who handled the case said the two were in the habit of co-habiting everyday although they were not married.

It is reported that Gatura, as usual, visited her beloved 52-year-old boyfriend Shoko at around 10pm on Monday night and spent the 'sweet night' with him doing 'only God knows' up to around 3.30am when she suddenly complained of breathing problems and later collapsed.

"She was rushed to hospital and was pronounced dead upon arrival," said one police officer. Efforts to get a comment from the deceased's boyfriend, Mr Jefter Shoko were futile as his mobile phone was not reachable.
