Jailed robber faces fresh charges

JAILED robber Jobson Shonhe, who robbed several buses and passengers at gunpoint late last year, together with his accomplices, was last week convicted on three counts of attempted murder and two counts of armed robbery before being sentenced to 50 years in jail.
He also faces three additional charges.
The court heard that the trio targeted cross-border buses and robbed them at gunpoint just before Beitbridge Border Post.
Shonhe (39) of Gokwe was last week convicted and sentenced, while his accomplice, Samuel Moyo (29) of Chipinge and Fraddy Ginotry Chibwana (28) of Gweru, denied the attempted murder and armed robbery charges.
During Shonhe's trial, further charges of attempted murder, murder and illegal possession of a firearm were raised against him and the prosecution said it was waiting for a post-mortem report in the murder case and other documents to commence his trial.
Shonhe, Moyo and Chibwana were remanded in custody to March 7.
Prosecutor Munyonga Kuvarega told the court that Shonhe committed the fresh charges in Karoi in January this year.
He also faces three additional charges.
