'Mnangagwa does not lack legitimacy'

President Emmerson Mnangagwa does not lack legitimacy but his problem is confidence, a political analysist Fidelis Fengu of Fidelis Fengu and Associates a Harare based political Think-tank has said.
"The burden of legitimacy really lies with those who voted for Emmerson Mnangagwa. Those who voted for ED should always be ready to stand and back the choice they made in the ballot booth. Legitimacy can be defined as the ability to be defended with logic or justification; validity." Fengu said in a statement on Tuesday.
"In my view, ED's problem is confidence. Confidence can be defined as the feeling or belief that one can have faith in or rely on someone or something
Confidence is a different ball game altogether. Confidence will be measured by the State of the economy.
When our neighbors have confidence in us they will bail us out, when the world has confidence in us they will come to the table and dine with us. Locally when the markets have confidence the numbers will show."
Fengu encouraged MDC members to shift focus on legitimacy to confidence in their quest for talks with President Mnangagwa.
"My question to MDCA members though it might sound like semantics, should the issue be on legitimacy or confidence?
"The talks are not and cannot be about legitimacy. The talks are about confidence. Should they not be based on restoring or increasing the confidence quotient locally and globally?
"Increased global confidence in Brand Zimbabwe is what we need right now. Bullet Trains won't build themselves neither will Trump's $15 billion fall like manna without CONFIDENCE."
Fengu further said the MDC risks losing out if the market begins to gain confidence on Mnangagwa.
"Sad news is that if the MDCA misses this train come tobacco season forex rolling in, markets stabilizing, rates at a healthy and steady pace, there just might be no sun left to shine on the MDCA's turf."
