Two more bodies of artisanal miners trapped at Cricket Mine in Kadoma two weeks ago have been retrieved bringing the death toll in the disaster to 26.
Deputy Chief Government Mining Engineer Tapererwa Paskwavaviri confirmed the latest development.
The retrieved bodies are that of Xavier and Cosmic Zvitiki who are uncle and nephew.
Their retrieval comes after 15 days of extensive de-watering exercise at Cricket Mine.
This brings the total death in the Battlefields Mine Disaster to 26 after bodies of 24 other trapped miners were retrieved on the 16 of this month at nearby Silver Moon Mine.
Eight other miners miraculously escaped death in the flooded mines and were rescued after spending 4 days underground.
The search for at least two other bodies of confirmed missing miners is in progress.
The bodies are reportedly in an advanced state of decomposition.
