Violent wife caught red-handed

A Harare man claims he is living in fear of his allegedly violent wife, who always beats him up.

Simon Chingeto bared all when he was applying for a protection order at the Harare Civil Court against his wife Chengeta Kali.

"My Lord, this woman is beating me and also physically abusing me.

"She is so violent and she once stabbed me with a knife.

"She is staying with another man right now using the property from our marriage," she said.

Added Simon:

"She is abusing my property which we agreed to use when we officially get married.

"Your Majesty I caught her with a man, just the two of them in a dark corner and she said it was her grandfather.

"This woman's behaviour is like that of a witch.

"She thinks she is cleverer than anyone else," he said.

In response Chengetai, who was opposed to everything, said:

"I am doing all this because I am no longer in love with this man.

"He is too old for me and takes things seriously so I do not like his seriousness," she said.

Presiding magistrate Gladys Moyo granted Simon a protection order against his abusive wife.
