Zanu-PF says the Finance Ministry should allocate more funds towards civil servants' salaries as there is enough money in the treasury realised from the sale of diamonds.
Zanu-PF National Chairman, Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo says the onus is on the Minister of Finance, Mr Tendai Biti to give competitive salaries to civil servants, pointing out that there is adequate revenue from the diamond proceeds to meet the obligation.
"The Finance Minister should stop playing cheap political games and take responsibility as civil servants are an important component of the nation's productive machinery," Ambassador Moyo said.
Civil servants have not been happy with their salaries with a majority of them earning between $150 and $200 against a backdrop of a situation where the poverty datum line has gone above $500.
Turning to the issue of the Registrar General's office, Ambassador Moyo said the government should consider setting aside finances to fund the operations of provincial capitals handling the issue of documentation to the public.
