In a spine-chilling incident, a newly born baby was on Thursday found dumped at a dumping place with its umbilical code still intact in Highfield. The lifeless body of the newly born tot was discovered by a woman who was emptying her bin in New Canaan, Highfield.
The woman, who was visibly in a state of shock said she was some flies around the baby's dead body prompting her to make further investigations.
"I went to empty my bin at this site when I saw a figure that looked like a little human body. I then moved closer to check what it was and got the shock of my life upon discovering that indeed it was a baby. How can someone be so cruel to do this evil thing? What has become of this world? This is not the first time that something like this has happened in this area," she said.
Asked if she had any suspects who could have committed the heinous act, the woman said: "I really have no idea but whoever is responsible should be cursed for the rest of her life. Babies are a gift from God and this is not different from murder".
One resident who spoke on condition of anonymity said she did not suspect anyone from their neighbourhood to be responsible for the act. "This could have been done by someone from elsewhere," she suggested.
The body of the child also spent the whole day at the dumping site as police arrived to collect the body to Machipisa Police Station at around 5pm.
