Fired Chitungwiza town clerk Godfrey Tanyanyiwa, who was found guilty of several charges ranging from corruption, fraud to unlawful disobedience of lawful orders, had his housemaid on council payroll, it has emerged.

Tanyanyiwa was found guilty by a disciplinary committee that sat in the capital last month and in charge 2, count 4, the ousted town clerk had Phyllis Muzanenhamo, his maid, employed as an
office orderly by the municipality.

"The authority also found that Muzanenhamo was effectively working as a housemaid at Tanyanyiwa's house as indicated by the Chief Internal Auditor in writing on July 20, 2011

. . . The authority also found that while Muzanenhamo was on the municipality's payroll earning $562,30 a month, Tanyanyiwa continued to draw down $200 housemaid allowance from the municipality on both fronts," the report, dated May 5, 2012, read in part.

"Having assessed all facts, the authority found Tanyanyiwa guilty on the count as charged," the report read.

The charge is one of the many against Tanyanyiwa who has since been fired from the local authority.

Chitungwiza has since advertised the post of town clerk and chamber secretary to fill in the vacancies left by Tanyanyiwa and Jemina Gumbo, the former housing director who was also fired for abuse of office, among other charges.

Acting town clerk Fungai Mbetsa yesterday confirmed that they had advertised the vacant top positions.

"We have advertised top positions including that of town clerk, then we will have a second tier and people who will come in will set up other critical structures," Mbetsa said.
