Gukurahundi victims to be exhumed

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice Virginia Mabhiza told members of the Matabeleland Collective on Tuesday that families who have relatives who died during the Gukurahundi Genocide will be able to exhume and rebury their departed ones..

"Exhumation of those who died during Gukurahundi must be carried out legally and in an orderly manner. The Min of Home Affairs will engage the affected people and start on the process."

Mabhiza further said that the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Health will assist victims in getting documentation and being treated.

"The Ministry of Home Affairs will be engaging people to facilitate issuing of birth and death certificates for all Gukurahundi victims Mabhiza and pain not transformed is pain transmitted hence the Ministry of Health and Child welfare has been mandated to provide medication for Gukurahundi victims."

"Considering that these are issues that have burdened the people for so long there is a time frame set, citing that relevant ministries implement this immediately.

"We need to bear with the assigned ministries to have time to raise funds to implement some of the projects which need to be carried out."Mabhiza added.
