Mapeza to stay

FC Platinum chairman Eng Evans Mtombeni says coach Norman Mapeza will stay.
In a press statement, Mtombeni refuted social media reports of him and Mapeza in a scuffle and also that they intend to bring in Mark Harrison as new coach.
The denied reports are that Mapeza manhandled club chairman Evans Mtombeni last Friday ahead of their clash against Triangle.
It was claimed that Mapeza was infuriated when Mtombeni suggested that he had influenced players to boycott training over unpaid dues.
"FC Platinum would like to clarify some social media reports in circulation.
"True facts of the matter are that indeed there was a meeting involving the technical team for FC Platinum and the Executive including the club president George Mawere.
"This was the first meeting of such kind after the team's CAF campaign and immediately after the start of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season. This meeting was held to discuss a number of pertinent issues to deal with both internal issues and the domestic season," he said.
The executive was believed to be angling for Harare City coach Mark Harrison but Mtombeni says there are no such plans.
"As FC Platinum, our primary objective remains one of retaining the Premier League title and our head coach Norman Mapeza is central to this affirmation, as such there are no any plans to bring another coach at FC Platinum and a no point has FC Platinum tried to engage another coach.
"The social media reports circulating relies on unnamed sources. For the record, FC Platinum has a Public Relations liaison officer and we encourage the media fraternity to get in touch with us and we will be most glad to clarify any misconceptions and rumours," read the statement.
