India wants co-operation with Zimbabwe

India has expressed interest in cooperation with Zimbabwe in sectors like mining, power generation and agriculture.
Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma conveyed India''s interest for cooperation when Finance Minister of Zimbabwe Tendai Biti called upon him.
Besides, the two leaders also talked about the possibilities of cooperation in the field of science and technology cooperation.
India has also interest in education and capacity building programmes in Africa and in Zimbabwe in particular, through the ''India-Zimbabwe SME Project''.
Sharma informed the visiting minister that in the final phase of the project, experts from India would be visiting the African nation to train Zimbabweans in operation and maintenance of the machines and technologies gifted to them.
He also expressed that Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) between the two countries, which has not been held since 1996, would be possible met this year.
India''s exports to Zimbabwe during 2009-10 were USD 49 million and imports were valued at USD 21 million.
