Government speaks on new passport fees

Government has dismissed social media reports that it has increased the price of passports. According to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance George Guvamantanga the reports are only fake news.

Said Guvamatanga, "That report is incorrect, passport fees have not been changed. Government focus at the moment is on clearing the current backlog.

"There are further reports on the review of passport fees and tollgate fees, both are incorrect. Government has not reviewed both the passport and tollgates fees. Both fees remain unchanged."

Talking of passports Guvamatanga said, "There was a technical issue which has been resolved and passports are being issued."
