Latest on fuel shortages

The Minister of Energy and Power Development Dr Joram Macdonald Gumbo told  cabinet that the fuel shortages will normalise from this coming weekend.

Dr Gumbo told cabinet that the fuel supply challenges currently being experienced in the market were a result of delays in the effecting of payments to the international fuel companies.

He nonetheless assured the cabinet that the situation should start to normalise and stabilise by the weekend after payments were recently by the Government to the suppliers.

Gumbo added that Government is remains seized with the goal to ensure long term sustainability of fuel supplies in the domestic markets.

There has been an increase in fuel shortages in the past week with long queues resurfacing at fuel stations.

In January President Emmerson Mnangagwa sarked an uprising after he announced an increase in the price of fuel

The uprising was ruthlessly squashed after Minister of State Security Owen Mudha Ncube instructed an internet blackout in the country and the Joint Operations Command unleashed soldiers.
