The trial for estranged former cabinet minister and Zanu PF National Secretary for Administration, Ignatius Chombo is yet to kick-off a year after corruption charges were brought against him.
Harare magistrate, Ms Barbra Mateko granted Chombo leave to travel to South Africa for medical review and temporarily released his passport.
This is not the first time that the former minister has been granted authority to proceed to South Africa for medical review.
Mr Chombo who faces graft charges emanating from his time as a minister was arraigned before the courts in 2017 after the Operation Restore Legacy.
His trial is yet to officially commence after he approached the Supreme Court seeking a stay of prosecution.
The case was postponed to the 24th of June as the magistrate awaits the decision of the Appeals Court.
The postponement has also benefited former Zanu PF Youth leader, Kudzai Chipanga and former Zanu PF Youth National Commissar, Innocent Hamandishe who are also jointly charged with Chombo on a separate matter related to the abuse of Zanu PF party regalia.
In a separate matter, Chombo is charged with officials from the Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing; Lazurus Chimba, Rejoice Pazvakavambwa and Psychology Chiwanga over corruption related to land allegedly belonging to Eddie Pfugari.
Additionally, Chombo faces charges of defrauding the City of Harare a property worth $900 000 and also duping Vinthal Rama $500 000 in a company transfer deal.
