Former Cabinet Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo said he desperately worked to change the 'rotten' culture of ZANU PF but lost it when he was ambushed during the bloody November coup that ended 37 years of President Robert Mugabe's rule.
Professor Moyo made the revelation while responding to one Vusi Mbano who had asked why he worked with a system that he is not criticising.
Said Prof. Moyo, "I fought it and called it uglyculture when I was in government. I was desperate to change it. I tried my level best by delicately walking through a minefield, fighting the rot. I lost the fight on 15 November 2017 when I was ambushed in the night by the military coup which imposed Mnangagwa. The rest is history!"
In 2016 the then Commander of Zimbabwe Defense Forces General Constantino Dominic Nyikadzino Guvheya Chiwenga warned Jonathan Moyo that they are watching him as he tries to destroy ZANU PF from within.
"We were reading mapepa paakatanga kuti 'when you want to destroy ZANU PF you need to do it from within." Chiwenga said.
"Vaitiudza kuti kuchazoita vamwe vechidiki vanofanirwa kutonga. Hazvina kunyorwa here? Munoti tanga tisingazvioni? Hazvisizvo here zvirikuitika? Ngatidye sadza zvakanaka."
Moyo once wrote an article which called for leadership and cultural renewal in the party and the article gave birth to the name Generational 40 which he coined.
