Commuters in Harare resorted to entering ZUPCU buses using windows after the door was overly crowded with people trying to get a seat inside the vehicles which charge $0.50 per trip.
Photos taken on Tuesday in Harare show hordes of commuters stranded at ZUPCO pick up pints while others who could not fit in the fully packed buses resorted to sitting on the cargo area on top of the vehicles.
On Monday government issued a directive that all ZUPCO buses should charge $0.50.
Commenting on the matter award winning journalist Hopewell Chin'ono said, "This is the other side of subsidies, there will be chaos as all these people are looking for cheaper transport. A taxicab to Budiriro now costs RTGS55. A whole ZUPCO 75 seater bus to Budiriro will only get RTGS37.5 charging 50c per passenger."
