A Harare man reportedly held a woman hostage and raped her several times after threating her with a toy gun. The man is also accused of shoving a knife into the woman's backside.
Geoffrey Mafika took the self-confessed hooker from a local bar to his lodgings in the Avenues where he threatened to "shoot" her if she did not accede to his demands.
Mafika (39) was not asked to plead to four counts of rape and aggravated indecent assault when he appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Anita Tshuma.
Prosecutor Miss Elaine Mokora requested that he be remanded in custody so that he could be examined by two medical doctors, to ascertain his mental status, under the Mental Health Act.
Ms Tshuma remanded him in custody to June 26.
The State alleges that on June 8 around 10pm, Mafika met the woman at a city nightclub and asked for sexual favours to which the woman agreed for a fee of US$10.
Mafika, it is alleged, took the hooker to his flat in the Avenues and upon arrival at the flat, he produced a "gun" and verbally assaulted the woman.
It is alleged he locked the bedroom door from inside and hid the keys under the bed.
He allegedly threatened to shoot the woman and ordered her to remove all her clothes while pointing the "gun" at her head.
Mafika, the court heard, forced the woman to perform oral sex on him before raping her four times without protection.
He ordered the woman to sleep with his genitals in her mouth, it is alleged.
The woman pretended to be asleep and upon seeing that Mafika had now slept, looked for the keys and fled.
She reported the matter to police and Mafika was arrested.
The "gun" which Mafika used was confiscated and police discovered it was a toy.
