European Union embarasses ZBC

The European Union Mission in Zimbabwe has embarrassed the national broadcaster the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation after it tweeted a EU Afunded solar project in Gwanda and credited the government for implementing it.
"Government has officially commissioned a €2.7million 99kw solar project in ward 19 Mashaba in Gwanda district,"ZBC tweeted.
A few minutes after the tweet, the European Union responded correcting the broadcaster that the EU is the funder of the project.
"Thank you for reporting on the commissioning of this EU-co-funded (other support from OFID and GEF) project, which is implemented by Practical Action. In Zimbabwe the project established universal access to modern energy services for 10000 people in 2.800 households in Gwanda South. Other implementing partners are SNV Zimbabwe and Dabane Trust."
MDC Treasurer General David Coltart mocked the broadcaster for the mishap.
" How embarrassing is this- ZBC implies that this project has been funded by government only for the EU to diplomatically set the record straight." Coltart said.
