Mnangagwa handed SADC Troika chairperson post

President Emerson Mnangagwa will assume the chairmanship of Southern African Development Community (Sadc) Organ on Politics, Defence and Security in August.
According to a local daily newspaper, this was said by the visiting regional bloc's executive secretary Stergomena Lawrence Tax said yesterday, with the opposition exhorting the regional bloc to put Zimbabwe on the agenda of the bloc to resolve its worsening economic and political crisis amid a presidential legitimacy crisis.
Addressing journalists after meeting Mnangagwa at State House, Tax said she came to the country to brief Mnangagwa as the incoming chairman of the organ whose mandate is to ensure there is peace and security in the region.
