Mthuli Ncube did not know about banning of the US$?

Award winning journalist Hopewell Chin'ono says he has been informed that Finance and Economic Development Minister Mthuuli Ncube and the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe did not know anything about the Statutory Instrument that was gazetted on Monday to outlaw the multi currency regime.

Said Chin'ono, "Someone mentioned that Mthuli Ncube was not his usual self in this video when the Zim Dollar statutory instrument was issued. I have it on good authority that both him and the RBZ were not aware of it. It was a political decision, not even the relevant line ministries were aware of it."


MDC Treasurer General David Coltart said if the allegations were false he expects Mthuli Ncube to come out in the open and dismiss them.  

"This is a remarkable allegation made by Hopewell namely that Mthuli Ncube was not even aware that SI 142/19 was going to be issued." Coltart said. "Nothing surprises me these days but if this is untrue I expect a robust rebuttal from the Minister. There is no place to hide in politics."

Mthuli Ncube is on record saying he does not respond to anyone on Twitter to avoid confrontation.
