MDC Alliance Harare West MP Joanah Mamombe has chided energy minister Fortune Chasi for lying that the Government had paid US$10 million to South Africa's Eskom as part of their debt settlement for electricity.
Chasi and information minister Monica Mutsvangwa this week said that the Government had paid the money, a claim quickly dismissed by Eskom.
"Fortune Chasi, propaganda will not take this country anywhere. On Wednesday in Parliament you talked about government paying $10m to Eskom after I asked about the power crisis in this country. So, where is the money then?, said Mamombe.
Activist Patson Dzamara said Zanu-PF claims should not be taken without verification.
"I was telling some friends recently that we must verify everything ZANU-PF produces in order to conceal its incompetence. If they say Kariba is a quarter full, we must have means and mechanisms to verify that. These people get away with a lot of lies because we don't question them," he said.
Zimbabwe is going through massive load shedding of up to 16 hours per day.
