The government tried to calm the storm on Friday after public outrage over revelations that FOUR ministers were being flown at tax-payer expense to watch the Netball World Cup.
The Sports and Recreation Commission said on July 3 that the ministers would be attending the tournament "in support of the girl child", sparking widespread anger.
Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa, Tourism Minister Prisca Mupfumira, Women Affairs and SMEs Minister Sithembiso Nyoni and Deputy Sports Minister Yeukai Simbanegavi are attending the tournament in Liverpool, England from July 12 to July 21.
In a statement on Friday issued "in the spirit of transparency and accountability", the Information Ministry said the Zimbabwe delegation was made up of 54 individuals, of which only 14 were players.
Other delegates are drawn from the Zimbabwe Netball Association, the government, supporters and the media.
Nick Mangwana, the information secretary, said Simbanegavi was head of delegation. Sports Minister Kirsty Coventry is currently on maternity leave.
Mangwana said Nyoni, Mutsvangwa and Mupfumira would join Simbanegavi although they would be in England "on other government business".
