THEY planned to escape from prison but didn't think how tough it would be to get over the barbed wire fence, or the damage it could do to a man's 4-5!
The SunTeam has seen a 50-second video of an inmate stuck on a barbed wire fence.
Correctional services spokesman Singabakho Nxumalo said the incident took place on 26 May at Empangeni Prison in KZN.
While only one inmate is seen, Correctional Services say there were two of them.
The man can be heard whispering that he's worried about his 4-5.
Officials lighting his face with a torch are heard screaming at the man, who's taking his time getting off the high fence.
But the warders are not impressed.
"Jump down!" they scream at him.
"My balls are hurting. They may not be able to work!" says the inmate wearing a white vest and shorts.
Angry officials repeatedly shout: "Get out of there and jump down. How were you going to get out of there? Do you think you will still use your genitals?"
Nxumalo said more details about the inmates cannot be revealed as it would harm investigations.
He said the inmate was treated for a minor injury after jumping off the fence.
"An investigation is underway and the two inmates were charged by police. Attempting to escape is a criminal offence."
