PROSECUTOR-GENERAL Mr Kumbirai Hodzi has embarked on a countrywide familiarisation tour of the courts to ascertain the state of affairs at the stations.
Mr Hodzi was in Matabeleland North Province last week where he revealed that he has so far toured 15 prosecutorial stations as he sought to familiarise himself with the status quo at the courts.
Speaking in an interview following his tour of Hwange magistrates courts, Mr Hodzi said while his visit was appreciative in nature, he also wanted to share his visions with officers manning the stations.
"I am currently conducting a countrywide tour of all the prosecutorial stations so that I familiarise myself with conditions of the stations and officers on the ground.
During the visits I also get to share my vision with all the prosecutors.
I also need to meet officers and hear from them the experiences, issues and problems that they face at the stations," said Mr Hodzi.
He said the tour was also in line with the restructuring process underway in the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) meant to improve service delivery in the justice delivery system.
"We are in the process of restructuring the NPA and it will go a long way in making sure that it does meet the core mandate that is to fight crime and corruption," said Mr Hodzi.
As of Tuesday the PG had visited 12 stations out of the 53 planned visits.
The PG added that since coming into office he was working on improving conditions of service at the stations with the assistance of other stakeholders.
In Matabeleland North the prosecution boss toured stations in Hwange, Victoria Falls, Binga, Lupane, Tsholotsho and Nkayi.
