A soldier and member of a neighbourhood watch committee in Beitbridge have been charged with armed robbery after they forced a motorist to surrender his car.

The soldier Nobert Muringo (36) and Milton Chauke (48) pleaded not guilty when they appeared before Beitbridge regional magistrate Crispen Mberewere last
Thursday. They were remanded to July 25 for trial.

Prosecutor Munyonga Kuvarega told the court that the two together with two other accomplices who are still at large robbed Benson Shoko (24) of his Toyota Rav 4 using machetes,

They gave Shoko an option to pay 20 000 rand after accusing him of smuggling the car from South Africa.
