Government has engaged four more contractors to speed up road rehabilitation works of the Harare-Beitbridge Highway.
Since the ground-breaking ceremony held in Beatrice a few months ago, progress has been slow with Zimbabweans taking to social media platforms to register their discontent over the delays.
Transport and Infrastructure Development minister Joel Biggie Matiza yesterday said they had engaged four more contractors, who will be working on five sites along the road after the August Heroes holidays.
"We are aware of the need to speed up the roadworks currently on-going along the Harare-Beitbridge Highway. We have identified four more contractors who will be working on five sites along the same highway. The contractors will start working after the Heroes holidays," he said.
Government has said that it had availed $150 million for the first phase and they had contracted local companies for the job.
