JOB DESCRIPTION
Designation: Deputy Director Construction Projects
Reports to: Director, Finance and Administration Department Finance and Administration Station : Head Office Ministry : Higher S Tertiary Education, Science S Technology Development
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Oversee construction projects in Higher and Tertiary Education Institutions to ensure their successful completion.
2. Assess the state and adequacy of infrastructure in the institutions and recommend the construction of appropriate structure where need is identified.
3. Prepare and present the Ministry's bid or the Public sector Investment Programme (PSIP).
4. Liaise with the State Procurement Board and the National Employment Council on issues to do with ordering of materials and employment of contract workers f or PSIP projects.
5. Vet Architectural designs submitted by institutions and responsible authorities to determine their feasibility and suitability.
6. Guide the Director. Finance and Administration on policy issues relating to the construction of infrastructure in colleges and Universities.
7. Monitor and evaluate capital projects in Colleges and other technical advice to the Director. Finance and Administration and Colleges authorities on construction issues.
8. Manage the disbursement of PSIP building grants to state institutions.
9. Prepare the Ministry's requirements for maintenance of buildings and present them to the Ministry of Local Government. Public Works and National Housing.
10. Compile monthly ad yearly progress reports on completed projects. and construction activities underway in the institutions.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES
■ Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering. Construction Engineering. Structural Engineering or Architecture.
■ At least one (I)year experience at Chief Engineer/Architect level or equivalent.
■ Thorough understanding of construction policies, regulations and procedures.
■ Good team leadership skills
■ Ability to work under pressure
■ Good interpersonal skills
