Heavily armed police officer officers have cordoned off Bulawayo High Court where Deputy Mayor Tinashe Kambarami is a respondent in a case was filed by a civic group 1893MRM citing that Kambarami flouted electoral laws as he is a convicted criminal.
The organization is arguing that Kmbarami is not supposed to be a councilor because the Urban Councils Act bars a person convicted of dishonesty from standing as a councilor.
Members of Mthwakazi Republic Party are carrying banners and demonstrating against the deputy mayor.
Kambarami is also facing another case where he is accused of assaulting the Town Clerk.
