Some section of civil servants' staged a protest in the Harare Central Business District over the meagre salaries that they are paid by the government.
The protestors who were petitioning the Minister of labour and the Minister of finance carried placards that were written: No to slave salaries, Todya marara here? Do I eat a Zupco bus?
Government has been promising to meet the Apex Council to discuss the salaries but the meeting is yet to take place.
Apex Council spokesperson, George Mushipe was quoted saying, "What is informing our argument is that in October 2018 the least paid was at US$ 475, and now we don't want to talk about parallel market, we talk about the interbank rate, so that if you multiply that by the prevailing inter-bank rate today we then get back to our October 1 salaries, basically that."
