Members of Parliament on Thursday said they want the government to increase their allowances and buy them proper cars.
The MPs who were debating a motion on the death of Hon Gumbwanda highlighted how they no longer feel like respected people.
They said there is a need to increase the allowances for Parliamentarians and acquire proper vehicles that fit their roles not the US $50 000 which have been chosen.
Norton MP Temba Mliswa said, "We are being used to rubber-stamp decisions that benefit only a few people. The top leadership needs to respect these Parliamentarians or they will find themselves facing a scenario like that of former President Mugabe."
Priscilla Misihairabwi Mushonga blasted the health sector and bemoaned that Gumbwanda died alone at the parliament clinic.
"I don't know why Hon Gumbwanda was allowed to die in a small crampy hospital. They was no doctor or nurse around. He was on his own and it was evident that he was breathing his last
"How have we as a people gotten to such a level. There is no existing system in the health sector." Mushonga said.
