Information from Harare indicate that President Emmerson Mnangagwa was locked up in a meeting with some senior officers from the Joint Operations Command on Thursday  evening when he returned from an official visit in the resort town of Victoria Falls.

A highly placed source in the dreaded Central Intelligence Organisation based in Harare told this publication then when the President arrived in the Capital he immediately went into a closed door meeting with some Generals.

The meeting which was scheduled to start in the afternoon but was rescheduled to the time when the President arrived was reported to discussed a number of developments in the state including the recent leaked audio  where the First Lady Auxilia Mnangagwa is shouting at and undressing a Senior Army General.

The source said the Generals were blowing  their top over the treatment of the Senior Army official by the First Lady. The Generals are said to have been questioning what wrong did the Commander do that warranted such treatment from the Auxilia.

The source added that the Generals said they were concerned that if one Commander can be treated that   way what if next time it is another one who falls victim to such public humiliation which creates a bad image for the armed forces and puts the country's security and territorial integrity at risk.

The Joint Operations Command (JOC) is the supreme organ for the coordination of state security in Zimbabwe. It was established by the Rhodesian Security Forces to supervise its counter-insurgency campaign in the war of liberation  as well as external incursions into neighbouring countries such as Zambia and Mozambique. The JOC retained its role in the post-independence Zimbabwe Defence Forces, and has since been accused of manipulating elections and orchestrating political violence.
