Twenty passengers aboard a Mwayera bus survived death by a whisker when the bus they were travelling in was involved in an accident near Marondera.
The Mwayera bus which was coming from Marange-Bocha headed for Harare, carrying mostly members of the Johane Marange church was involved in an accident at the 67 km peg along the Harare-Mutare highway near Grasslands Research Station in Marondera.
Mashonaland east ZRP spokesperson, Inspector Tendai Mwanza confirmed the accident saying the driver lost control and veered off the road, resulting in the bus landing on its right side.
One of the passengers Shepard Lungu said the driver lost control of the vehicle in the early hours of the day.
"We are lucky to have survived because the driver lost control uprooting several trees along the way," said a passenger.
No fatalities were recorded with only the driver and conductor sustaining minor injuries.
