Norton Member of Parliament Temba Mliswa says the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission initially failed to access the NSSA audit after the NSSA Board Chairperson said he needs express clearance from the Public Service Minister Sekai Nzenza firstly.
Mliswa said the management of NSSA should be an investigation.
Here is his full statement below:
Just to indicate how heavily involved Ministers can become especially in NSSA
affairs, when the Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission approached NSSA Chair, Dr. Chidoori to demand he handed over the forensic audit report, he initially refused citing he had to seek authority from the Minister.
It was only after ZACC flexed their arresting powers that the Chair realised the gravity and futility of his intended move & handed over the report. Well done ZACC for asserting yourselves in a bid to get to the bottom of the rot.
Why did Sekai Nzenza need consulting? Was this a resolution we'll find in the minutes of a Board meeting or maybe just one of the numerous "verbal instructions" given to the Board by the Minister as done by Mupfumira to her then Board?
Hence the need for all Board members and management to be called in for questioning to unearth info and establish extent of complicity. Boards should be able to independently question Ministers on instructions and decisions meted out whether verbal or non-verbal.
Meanwhile, Public Service Minister Sekai Nzenza has denied that she was given money to cover up for the NSSA loot describing the reports as nonsensical.
