MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa has condemned reported attempts by unknown men with AK 47s and un marked vehicles to abduct his party's youth leader Obey Sithole on Wednesday.
The attempted abduction happened after Sithole attended a Political Dialogue Series convened by the Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) and the Zimbabwe Television Network.
"The attempted abduction on MDC youth leader, Obey Sithole by unknown men with unmarked vehicles, armed with AK 47 guns is both a reminder and a confirmation that Zimbabwe, being unsafe for its citizens and visitors, is a country under extreme terrorism and severe violence," said Chamisa on Thursday.
In a statement, ZCC said "five to eight gun wielding men in two motor vehicles, a Toyota Rev 4 and a white Toyota quantum mini bus were involved in this violent act. However, their efforts were foiled my members of the officials' entourage," said the church in the statement.
