HIV juvenile jailed for molesting children

A 14 year old HIV positive Harare boy has been sentenced to four years in prison for molesting children.

However, Harare regional magistrate, Hosea Mujaya suspended the sentence and ruled that he must be given four lashes by a prison officer.

The magistrate said the accused person committed a serious offence, adding that in coming up with the sentence, the court had considered the effects of the offence.

Magistrate Mujaya said the accused person had a difficult upbringing which might have contributed to his unbecoming behaviour.
