Former Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) students convened in Harare for a clean-up campaign exercise at one of the dirtiest spots in the capital's central business district, the Zbc reported on Saturday.

The former ZOU students held their clean-up campaign at the Market Square bus terminus, which is one of the dirtiest spots in the capital.

ZOU Illumini Chairperson, Mr Energy Deshe said the clean-up campaign is one of their social responsibility programmes that they have lined up.

ZOU Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Gabriel Kabanda said the clean-up is an initiative by former students, adding that there are hopes that many others will join.

Since 1999, more than 25 000 students have acquired degrees in various disciplines that are offered by the open learning institution.

Some of the students include high profile people who hold powerful positions in the country's strategic sectors.
