A Harare woman sent the Civil Court in Harare into fits of laughter when she revealed that she had become intimate with her estranged husband at his workplace in a bid to persuade him to give her money for the upkeep of a child he sired.

Tariro Kaseke found herself in the dock last week as her former husband, Isaac Mandiringa, sought a protection order against her. In his plea, Mandiringa told the court that Kaseke was verbally abusing him at his workplace.

"Your Worship, this is my ex-wife and we broke up a long time ago because I had to commit myself to my first wife. Over the past few weeks, she has been coming to my workplace and verbally abusing me. I no longer feel safe and I am seeking a protection order to bar this woman from interfering with my life," he said.

However, Kaseke refuted the allegations, saying she only visited him to collect money for the child's upkeep.

She also told the court that her relations with him were cordial until the day they became intimate in his office.

"I have never assaulted nor abused him in any way. He is only making these accusations because he does not want me to come to him asking for money. He promised to give me money after being intimate with him in his office. However, he did not deliver on the promise," she said.

She was advised to apply for maintenance.
