Chinese national attempts to shoot 4 Zim immigration officials

A CHINESE national has been arrested for allegedly attempting to shoot at four immigration officers who wanted to arrest him for staying in the country illegally.
The incident occurred at a flat along Josiah Tongogara Avenue in Harare yesterday morning.
Xye Zheng is in police custody and will appear in court soon facing charges of staying in the country illegally and that of trying to shoot at the immigration officers.
The Star pistol which had five rounds of ammunition has since been taken for further investigations and to ascertain whether it was licenced or not.
Assistant Regional Immigration Officer Mr Francis Mabika said Xye came to Zimbabwe sometime last month and was issued with a holiday visa.
The visa expired and Xye continued staying in the country.
Immigration officers went to his flat to check on his status and asked Xye to produce his permit, but he took a pistol, threatening to shoot them.
