Overloaded tractor crash, driver killed

The driver of a tractor overloaded with cotton bales died on the spot after he lost control of the vehicle which veered off the road and crashed into a ditch at the 67km peg along the Patchway-Sanyati road on Wednesday.
Mashonaland West provincial police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara identified the deceased as Stanley Gachichi (age not given) of 543 Gunhill, Sanyati.
He said on July 3 around 7pm, the deceased was driving a Fiat 8066-S tractor carrying 27 cotton bales destined for Sanyati. At the 67km peg, he lost control of the vehicle and it veered off the road to the left. He was thrown off and died on the spot. The tractor, which was not damaged, landed in a ditch.
A report was made at ZRP Sanyati while the deceased's body was taken to Sanyati Baptist Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.
