Zimbabwe face a massive blackout on Thursday as a crippling strike is planned by workers in the energy sector.
Workers under the Zimbabwe Energy Workers Union (ZEWU) issued a 72 hour ultimatum to Zesa demanding a salary increment.
Zewu president Angeline Chitambo said , "We have given Zesa CEO Josh Chifamba 72 hours to respond to our management in a meaningful engagement and people should not be surprised if they wake up without electricity".
Chitambo says Chifamba is backtracking to implement the new salary structure awarded to the energy sector by arbitrators on June 18.
Zewu represent close to 7 000 workers countrywide.
The arbitrators awarded the lowest paid worker $275 per month.
