A Mutare businessman and socialite (name withheld) is being accused of neglecting his pregnant 27-year-old small house after infecting her with HIV.

The businessman, who is known for his aggressive nature in handling business matters must have failed to wrestle down his sexual desires after he allegedly ignored the use of protection, thus impregnating his small house, Sina Sibanda and allegedly went on to infect her with the deadly virus.

The two parties met for a meeting at the Mutare central on Tuesday afternoon, but failed to come up with a solution, with the police calling on them to seriously discuss the matter. However, everything hit a brick wall.

In an unsolicited interview recently, Sibanda accused the businessman of infecting her with HIV and neglecting her after she fell pregnant. She even produced a referral form Number 41318 from the New Start Centre dated June 27, 2012 where she was referred to New Life for psycho-social and nutritional support.

"We have been dating for about a year and half and somehow he managed to convince me that he is not married. Even his brother in Chipinge and the other one here in Mutare always told me that he is single. I only got to know the truth about his marital status in June (last month) when I phoned him intending to discuss my pregnancy and his wife answered the call. I was shocked to learn about that since I had already fallen pregnant," explained Sibanda.

she added: "I told the wife that I didn't know that the man was married. I also told her that he impregnated me. Since then, he has made some attempts to harass me even in public. he also had the tenacity to come to my workplace indenting to cause trouble. I had to be whisked away in a car to escape his wrath. I fell pregnant about three months ago and when I confronted him to discuss the issue during the early days of the pregnancy, he would keep dillydallying. He later suggested that we terminate the pregnancy because he was married but I refused."

Sibanda said after confirming that she indeed was pregnant she was advised to undergo prenatal testing, where she discovered that she had become HIV positive.

"The last time I went for HIV testing was after I left my ex-boyfriend and I was negative. Since then I have never slept with any other man apart from the businessman and I really know that I got it from him. I am also pursuing legal recourse against him," she said.

When contacted for comment, the businessman denied all the allegations and accused his ex-girlfriend of pursuing a 'regime change agenda' so that she could end up being his wife.

"You see, this is all unfounded and malicious. She only wants to tarnish my image and give the impression that I am evil. She knows that I have everything to lose while she had nothing to lose. I regret everything that went on between the two of us and wish I had known her character from the onset. After all she is lying that she is pregnant. I know for a fact that she undertook a five-year no-plant contraceptive method. She is crazy. On the issue of HIV, how on earth can I infect someone with HIV when I am negative myself?" claimed the businessman.

He added: "I even have a nine-month-old baby who is breastfeeding. I was last tested sometime ago before the birth of our child just like I told you, she only intends to soil my image. She has been all over the city saying bad things about me. She even went to the extent of calling my wife and inviting her for a discussion, what for? This woman is just insane and I wish I had known that before I got into all this."
