A misunderstanding over a plastic bucket recently turned tragic when a woman killed her husband by slitting his throat at Gatshe-Gatshe Fishing Camp in a bid to gain control of the container.
Dorica Bhanzi (49) is in remand prison after a Karoi magistrate last week remanded her in custody to July 16 on murder charges.
Magistrate Mrs Nyaradzo Ringisayi heard how on June 28 this year Bhanzi of 2191 Batonga, Kariba was using an okapi knife, scrapping off scales from her catch of fish at Gatshe-Gatshe Fishing Camp when a dispute over a bucket with her husband, Office Kanyama, erupted.
Kanyama allegedly wanted to take the bucket to his rural home in Hurungwe, which did not go down well with Bhanzi who claimed the bucket had not been fully paid for.
When Kanyama slapped Bhanzi in the face to let go of the container, she fell down, but immediately rose with the knife in her hand which she used to slit Kanyama's throat.
Kanyama died a few moments after bleeding profusely.
Sonny Ndoro was present when Jonathan Chaparanganda managed to wrestle the knife from Bhanzi whom they later handed over to the police.
