The Zimbabwe Republic Police say they are investigating a case of a police officer who was murdered at a school in Chegutu.
The police officer is said to have been on duty at a cotton buying and selling point at Danangwe Primary School in the district.
Provincial police spokesperson Inspector Clemency Mabgweazara said the police officer was found dead on Saturday morning in a classroom with a gun shot in his head.
He said the police are still investigating the murder case.
Commissioner General Augustine Chihuri is on record reprimanding the public and political parties for attacking police officers. However, the development is a testimony that the message is falling on deaf ears.
The law enforcement agency has over the years continued to suffer a blow as its members are being allegedly attacked by the public.
Some of the officers who were murdered include Detective Sergeant Joseph Maximus who was shot and killed by suspected armed robbers and Inspector Petros Mutedza who was killed in Harare's Glen View suburb and the case is still before the courts.
