Woman drowns and burn her baby to death

A 26-year-old Mabvuku woman who drowned and burnt her newly-born baby is before the Harare Magistrates' Courts.
Esther William is accused of contravening section 48 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter 9:23.
She is facing infanticide charges and an alternative charge of concealing birth of a child.
The court heard William gave birth to a baby sometime between June and July this year in Harare's New Mabvuku suburb.
It is alleged after giving birth William drowned the baby in a bucket of water before burning the infant whom she immediately buried.
Harare magistrate Anita Tshuma yesterday released William on $50 bail.
She will be back in court on July 30.
