A VISIT to TB Joshua by a VID employee seeking spiritual help to stop alcohol abuse proved fruitless as he was yesterday brought to the Harare Civil Court by his wife on the same matter.

Otilia Kabasa told the court that she had had enough from her drunkard husband Givemore Musengi and was seeking a protection order.

She said her husband is a nuisance when drunk.

"He plays loud music in the middle of the night and makes terrible noise, which irritates me and the children.

"If I caution him, he chases me around the house in the dead of the night alleging I do not listen to him and wants to kill me.

"I want him to move out of our matrimonial home so that he sorts his problems out," she said.

In response, Musengi told the court that he is seeking help to stop the drinking problem.

"I went as far as visiting Nigerian prophet TB Joshua to help me quit the bottle. It's not easy, but I am surely getting there. I only need time because it is a process.

"I am addicted to beer and I drink too much of it and at the end I cause havoc," he said.

Musengi said the drinking problem started when he went against his doctor's advice to stop taking alcohol.

"I was involved in an accident and I sustained head injuries.

"My doctor advised me to stop drinking and I am sure that is why when I drink I lose my way.

"I don't want to move away from my family, I promise I will do what it takes to stop abusing alcohol," he pleaded.

However, magistrate Mr Milton Serima proceeded to grant the protection order in favour of Kabasa.

He ordered Musengi to observe peace towards his wife and children.
