A CHITUNGWIZA man who processed a fake driver's licence for a desperate prospective driver and pocketed US$350 was yesterday jailed for six months.

Cloudious Mudapakati (18) of Unit L denied fraud charges when he appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Ms Rumbidzai Mugwagwa, but he was convicted after overwhelming evidence against him.

Prosecutor Mr Lovert Muringwa proved that on June 16 this year, at Unit C junction, Chitungwiza, Mudapakati met Rodgers Ngulinga (21), who had already gone through driving lessons.

The meeting was pre-arranged by a third party and Ngulinga produced the US$350 and gave it to Mudapakati.

The court heard that Mudapakati had misrepresented to Ngulinga that the amount would be enough to secure a driver's licence. After he was given the money, Mudapakati drove off in an Ipsum vehicle. He came back driving the same car and gave Ngulinga the fake Class 2 driver's licence with registration number 088240 LC.

Ngulinga went to his friend's place where he compared the fake driver's licence with that of his colleague and discovered some differences on the features.
